Flash Flood Warning issued in Harrison, Randolph counties

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — 12 News has confirmed that U.S. Route 50 has reopened after briefly being closed due to flooding on Tuesday.

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Multiple power outages have been confirmed in the region following severe thunderstorms that struck on Tuesday.

According to a 12 News reporter, the traffic lights near the intersection of Route 50 and Interstate 79 are currently out. MonPower and another 12 News employee also confirmed that power is out at some Emily Drive locations including Sam’s Club.

The Harrison County Office of Emergency Management has issued a warning via Facebook urging residents to not be outdoors during the flooding if they absolutely don’t need to be. The Anmoore Fire Department currently has one of its trucks blocking the road in the downtown area due to high water.

West Virginia 511 currently shows that traffic is at a standstill on parts of I-79, U.S. Route 50 and WV Route 58.

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A Flash Flood Warning has now been issued in Harrison County and part of Randolph County until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Main Street/Route 50 in Bridgeport has been shut down between Lodgeville Road and Virginia Street because the road is flooding. The video in the player above also shows conditions of roadways in Anmoore around 5 p.m.

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Parts of north central West Virginia are under a flood watch Tuesday into Wednesday due to the possibility that excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the flood watch for the following counties:

The NWS’s flood watch will go into effect at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29 and will be lifted at 2 a.m. on Wednesday.

Recent heavy rainfall has left soil in the area compromised, meaning additional runoff could lead to localized flash flooding, particularly rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
